The Site Historique National Paspébiac is a heritage site that on a free or guided tour you can discover the history of cod fishing by visiting the eleven historic buildings on site. It is also an opportunity to meet authentic Paspéyas, and taste traditional dishes while enjoying the sun and salty air.

The LeBoutillier warehouse is sure to impress. Made of wood, it is one of the largest fishing vessels ever built in America. With its five floors, it stands out within a unique heritage complex classified by the governments of both Canada and Québec.

Since 1767, Paspébiac has been at the heart of the industrial history of fishing, a tradition still present today with its fishermen, its factory and its wharf. Promenade, beach, picnic tables and children’s games round off the visit.

At the Site Historique National Paspébiac is also a restaurant titled “Restaurant L’Ancre”. Here is the ideal place to discover traditional Gaspesian cuisine. Located near the wharf it offers fish and seafood from local fishermen. Enjoy the famous brill à la Paspéya or classics such as fish soup, crab rolls, and cod fillets. Dining room and take-out meals are available daily from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and Friday-Sunday from 5 p.m.-9 p.m.

The Site Historique National Paspébiac also has a souvenier shop where you can find local crafts, clothing or jewelry. You’ll discover a whole range of original and unique products.

Rooms are also subject for rental at the Site Historique National Paspébiac for family celebrations, business meetings, trainings or other events. The Site Historique National Paspébiac offers their Salle Thérèse-Allard with a catering service or their 187-seat performance hall.
