Parc National de Miguasha is located in the Baie-des-Chaleurs region of the Gaspé Peninsula. Access to the park is via route 132 either in the Municipality of Nouvelle, or in the Municipality of Escuminac.
Since 1999, Miguasha has been on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. This recognition makes the site the best place in the world to discover the Devonian geological period.
Parc National de Miguasha offers guided tours and permanent exhibitions. A visit to the Natural History exhibits offers an extraordinary scientific experience. Entitled from “Water to Earth” the permanent exhibition features an impressive collection of fossil fish and plants from the famous cliff. In addition, a second exhibition has been accessible to visitors since 2013. Entitled “Elpistostege”: the origins of a quest that highlights the new specimen of “Elpistostege watsoni” discovered in 2010. The striking multimedia presentation is sure to raise questions about man’s place in the living world!
Parc National Miguasha has a boutique (Boutique L’Échoppe) that will charm you with the diversity and originality of its products. It offers ammonite or amber jewels and a wide range of decorative stones, minerals and fossils along with fine crafts by about thirty artists and artisans from the Gaspé Peninsula.
Parc National Migusha also has a snack bar (Le Dévonien Snack Bar). Here visitors can enjoy snacks such as chips, ice cream, muffins and beverages.
